The most common symptom of a heart attack is chest pain, often described as a feeling of tightness, as if something squeezing sensation of pressure or weight on the chest, sometimes stabbing or burning sensation. Although this pain can occur at any time, a large number of patients suffer in the morning, just hours after waking.

Chest pain tends to focus on the center of the center just below the rib cage (the ribs), and may extend to the arms, abdomen, lower jaw or neck. Other symptoms may include sudden weakness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, shortness of breath, loss of consciousness, palpitations or confusion. Sometimes when the heart attack causes heartburn, nausea and vomiting, the patient may confuse their symptoms with indigestion.

Duration

The duration of the symptoms of heart attack varies according to each person. As in 15% of cases, the patient never gets to the hospital for treatment because it dies quickly after the onset of symptoms.
