The majority of cases, is unknown. This type of hypertension is known as primary or essential hypertension. Fortunately some of the factors contributing to hypertension are known. Arteriosclerosis and hardening of plaque along the artery walls and a contributing factor. Another factor is the thickening of the walls, but another contributing factor for hypertension is small arteries. Other causes are not just a fundamental problem but a combination of various factors that have been concluded to be the causes of hypertension: Excessive alcohol – alcohol plays a direct role in blood pressure. It has been found in several studies, more alcohol, the higher the blood pressure is high. Studies show that moderate drinkers appear to have less hypertension than the drinkers.
